Channels are a granular avenues for sorting content pushed by a trusted external source. There are no fundamental principles determining what types of content are delivered by a particular channel. A channel may also be thought of as a stream namespace.

An external source offer a sports channel but also a cycling channel which contains a subset of the sports channel content in addition to content not offered by sports.
